Two short days of snow

In a hurry to go play in the snow, Annabelle hopped into her rain boots and jacket while still wearing her pajamas. Lacking gloves, she grabbed her oven mitt from her little kitchen and stuffed the other hand in the pocket. We weren't outside for more than 45 minutes or so, and she loved every second -despite the cold.

After our snow play, Annabelle warmed up with a steamy bath. I ran outside and brought in several snow balls for her to play with in the bath and she had a ton of fun.... wrapped them up in washcloths and was genuinely upset that I wouldn't let her take one to bed with her for her nap.
Here are some highlights...

Home coming

After spending a night on the Oregon Coast visiting Dave's sister, we came home to this:

Whoah. That's a lot of snow! It makes our little house look so cozy... Annabelle is that little pink dot in the foreground, snow up to her thighs, feet slipping apart, calling, "Help me please Mommy! Please HELP!"

This made me love my husband a little more...

When he could have bought a purely functional version, he bought the one that made me gasp instead, even though I never expected him to... Isn't it beautiful?

A labor of love...

With some new yarn my mom gave me for Christmas, I crafted myself a new hat on the drive home from Southern California to Oregon... It looks nothing like the pattern, but thankfully fits well and is quite warm!

I used 3+ balls of Debbie Bliss Merino Chuny and followed the pattern the cover featured pattern in Just Hats. (Click the link to see a picture of the hat on the cover.)

Here is a picture of what Annabelle was doing while I took a picture of myself wearing my new hat:

The rushing river in the background was pretty loud, it was very cold, and she was tired. Sensory overload, country style. I promised I picked her up, held her close and gave her many kisses only a moment later. After warming up in the car during lovely Sunday drive through the farmland, we had a nice pasta dinner in a neighboring town...
