Banksy

Last weekend we went on a scavenger hunt in the city, looking for work by our favorite street artist, Banksy. It was fun to tour different parts of the city all in one day! We had lunch at a new place: Nopalito. Delicious, friendly, and gluten-free, the perfect combination! (Our mouths water when we think of it and we look forward to going back soon!)

Walking Haight.

Our first sighting.

Many artists followed after the original Banksy. It was nice to see the tributes and support.

Covered with plexi-glass and also caulked around the edges. The gesture of preservation makes me smile.

Time together

Lately I have benefited from taking a serious look at my priorities and bringing a thoughtfulness to how I spend my time. Annabelle notices. So does Dave.

I have, in my own way, been working to figure out how to "live in the moment" - a catch phrase that means a lot of different things to a lot of people. For me, part of it was figuring out how to be okay with anything that happens in that moment, and knowing that it isn't about being spontaneous, or thinking positively, or even about being happy. It isn't about trying to be any one way or conforming to any single preconceived idea. It is simply about being.

And "just being" took me a little practice. But the payoff has been bigger than I expected.

It is amazing what happens when you hold a consciousness about something every day for an extended period of time. I would do anything for that smile.

The path

Take one step beyond yourself,
The whole path lasts no longer than one step.
Beg alms from yourself - don't go wandering
Outside yourself; the Way cannot be found.
If it is love you're after, negate your self;
Only the lover without self knows love.
